Haven't been here in yonks ~ thought I might clear up any confusion. Heard from more than one person that they thought my site was a pure medical nerdette one so they stopped reading lol. don't blame 'em!!

so... in big and bold writing...

i've moved to ¤ blogger ¤ and it's a proper blog!!

life stuff, not med stuff ~ the med blog's always going to be a project in progress and i doubt i'll ever get past telling you about the anatomy of the eye. anyway..

cya at blogger!

Flavor of the Day: Opthalmology

Well, guess i should start with the anatomy of the eye as an intro.

© University of Pennsylvania Health System

Parts of the Eye

Gross Anatomy
¤ Cornea - transparent, anterior tough outer coat of the eye
¤ Sclera - opaque, posterior part of the outer coat. site of extraocular mm attachments. optic nerve leaves through cribriform plate.
¤ Limbus - junction between the sclera and the cornea.
¤ Ciliary Body - contains smooth ciliary mm (contracts to change lens shape and enable focusing). provides attachment for the iris. epithelium secretes aqueous humor and maintains ocular pressure.

» Note the visual axis and how light falls directly on the fovea, not the optic disc/nerv (which is located medially).

blog fever

i set up another blog at blogspot just because flickr allows direct uploads/blogging of pics from there to blogspot. they haven't added xanga yet

i like this xanga site cuz of how the page looks and cuz of the ease of uploading. it's type, click and poof! i also like the name better.. sounds less mundane, less common. the only reason i'm reluctant to dump the blogspot site is of the ridiculous amount of time i spent tinkering with the header graphic and figuring out how to configure their templates. grr. at least i know how css works now.. kinda ~

anyway, to solve the dilemma of which one to use.. i've decided that mebbe i should keep this xanga one for med related rants while the blogspot one should be reserved for friends and whatever social life i have (or don't have) because it'd be easier to upload pix from flickr to there. yay, the best of both worlds

rediscovery

rediscovered my xanga site... haven't been back in more than a year and i've totally forgotten about it! ack. the welcome msg dates from o4.o5.2oo3 ~ eeks

it's amazing how much tastes and styles change over just a short span of a year! i was appalled by the whole page before i changed the header and the color schemes... what WAS i thinking?!

well.. may be coming back here more often :)
